NETWORK SPEED CHART

Understanding network speeds from various network service providers is sometimes unclear.  Here is an everyday comparison that I developed for a large case to explain the differences in network speeds and their delivery of data.

This is a dramatic comparative metric of the time it takes to download a movie.

Speed translates into faster applications, new applications, and new approaches.

·          Gigabyte: a unit of information equal to one billion (actually 1,073,741,824) bytes (or 8,589,934,592 bits) or 1024 megabytes (or 2 to the 30 power).

Great chart, Jim. On a related note, have you seen the new Comcast commercial where Mr. and Mrs. Turtle are complaining that their cable broadband went too FAST for them? (Turtles like to go slow - get it?!) They decided to downgrade to the 'much slower' dsl. Here's the link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=k8oXbzg_MZY. Very clever!
